Award winning Pastry Chef and Cake Artist Donna Joy has created the most artistic edible works of art, Gallery Donna Joy’s Unique Artisan Handcrafted Cake & Sugar Art. Donna is self-taught in the culinary arts starting back in the late nineties in remote Sedona AZ when resources were only books, magazines.
Sugar Bow creation
Donna created each loop of the bow separate. Then after it dried she would form the bow using royal icing to hold the loops. She used cotton balls to keep the loops in place. The bow had to dried again and they were pack in separate box for safety. The bows all sat on a sugar disk and had to be placed on the cake with tender care. We love watching bows being created.

Time consuming but super cool as the whole bow can be taken off the cake and saved. If kept dry it will last forever. If you drop it, bye-bye bow. It breaks like bone-china.

Donna Joy made hundreds of custom bows. Completers would go into the store and pretend to be a customer and buy the extra bows Donna stored in glass cabinet until one of resorts called and complemented the wedding cake she received. She took a picture; it was one of Donna’s .The bakery never sold another one without Donna approval.

We love how Donna Joy creates these bows from sugar. She makes tons of loops in different sizes and then after the sugar is set puts the bow together like a puzzle. Connecting the right size loops in each location. Then three days later you can pick up the bow and place it on the cake.

This three tier Fondant Sedona Wedding Cake has fondant accented with Donna’s piped black drama swirls; the tiers are trimmed with black pearls. This work of art is adorned with a cascade of hand-sculpted pastillage red sugar Lilies. The hand-sculpted pastillage red sugar Lilies. has all the details of real lilies with black stamen along with painted black droplets on the each of the lily petals, the cascade of sugar lilies is trimmed with texture black leaves for additional drama. A beautiful local Sedona Bride planned a perfect wedding at her creekside home here in Sedona. The cake was as unique and beautiful as she is. Two hearts become one. Two – two tiered cakes (one gluten free, one regular) with handmade sugar flowers by Donna Joy adorn the cakes with the flowers on each cake forming a half of heart. Together creating one heart.
